“IV. Remorse,” Washington Post

On Tuesday, The Washington Post published an exceptional piece by Michael Patrick F. Smith about Territorial's "Tlaxihuiqui," our latest LP offering. Look out for the article in the latest print edition of the WashPo magazine as well! We were especially moved by this paragraph from Smith:

"As 'Tlaxihuiqui' is a musical document, its reception will hinge to a great extent on the musical tastes of the listener, but its acceptance — certainly more than any record I’ve ever heard — will hinge on the listener’s own relationship with the idea of forgiveness, who deserves it, who gets it and how much of it we have in our hearts."
- Michael Patrick F. Smith, The Washington Post

This past Monday we also released the third Lyric Video from “Tlaxihuiqui,” for track four, “Remorse.” The piece introduces us to a central player on the album, Michael Tenneson.

A quick google search paints Tenneson as a serial killer, which in technical terms it would be hard to argue. Tenneson shot and killed five people during two robberies in 1987. "Remorse" does not intend to glorify him, but it does intend to provide a more human side to him than the current public record.

We asked our fans, do you think Michael or people who commit heinous acts like Michael's deserve an opportunity to display a different side of themselves? You can comment on our Instagram.

Look out for more Lyric Videos from Tlaxihuiqui coming soon!
