VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Posting Feb 21, 2025. Are you passionate about providing a platform for seldom heard voices?
FREER Records is seeking a Catalog Marketing Assistant.
We are seeking an aspiring professional who would like to work in the music industry and learn how digital distribution and publishing works. We currently have the technology to distribute and administer publishing for an unlimited number of artists - we just need a stellar teammate to start building this out.
We will be building out FREER Distro over the coming months and years, where we offer formerly and currently incarcerated musicians a platform to get their music on all streaming platforms and have a professionally managed catalog, in which their music is pitched to playlists and synchronization opportunities.
The Catalog Marketing Assistant will be in charge of collecting and submitting metadata via Airtable and Audiosalad, to help get prison-impacted artists set up. They will utilize ASCAP, BMI, Disco, Tracklib, and other companies which help get musicians' work heard and compensated. To that end, they will also make contact with Music Supervisors on film/tv/commercial productions in effort to share our catalog.
While this position will begin unpaid - we are a small non-profit with a limited budget - there is a lot of room for growth. This is something an aspiring professional could take on and really build out over time, should they be motivated around providing a platform for seldom heard voices.
We're looking for someone with solid communication skills and extreme attention to detail. They must be highly organized, have a keen eye for and interest in data, and an ability to work independently.
Required Skills:
- Must be proficient in tech in various forms.
- Web browser efficiency, Gmail, and Google docs mandatory.
Huge plus but not mandatory:
- Tangible knowledge of music production
- A music related app, such as a DAW (Logic, ProTools)
- Airtable
- Slack
- Excel
- Basic coding
- Squarespace
To apply, submit resume and cover letter explaining why you’re a good fit for the job to: info at freerrecords dot com. Thank you!
