2022 - 2026 Strategic Plan

Hey y'all,

I am excited to introduce our latest… 🥁 🥁 2022-2026 YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN 🚨 🚨

This blog is going to mean different things to each of you, depending on how long you've been around. Do you remember when I performed "Still Alive" in the nursing home? Lol. Do you remember long haired Fury traveling across the country seeking to find evidence supporting Anthony McKinney's claim of innocence? Die Jim Crow Records has come so far, and yet, we still have so much further to go.

When we first sat down with our Acting Board Chair Eddie Berg to undertake this feat we had a few questions to answer: What is Die Jim Crow's mission? Values? What's the ultimate goal here? Through these questions we discovered that DJC is an ever-growing idea, an infinite mission that started as an album about mass incarceration and morphed into a record label. A record label that we hope will transform into a multimedia company one day. We had more evidence of this constant evolution in the PPE Into Prisons initiative that spawned the Instruments Into Prison campaign; the former prisoner who wrote raps to Fury growing into the Deputy Director, and then Co-ED. Die Jim Crow is growth: growth in art, growth in character development, and growth in society's viewpoint on justice.

Here's where I let you behind the curtain for a little bit. As shiny as we look, Die Jim Crow is still very young. So young that our Founder, Co-Executive and Creative Director Fury Young still volunteers 80% of his hours, living with Mom Dukes to keep expenses low. Countless hours.

Once again, it's time for growth. In this strategic plan we are looking to fortify our intentions in providing basic access to the arts, creative resources, and musicianship to our constituents. We've revamped our values, sharpened our vision, and revitalized our mission in order to set DJC's priorities in stone, and focus our energy and resources on strengthening our operations. We are confident in our trajectory, our talented musicians, passionate staff, volunteers, and dedicated supporters. I humbly request of you to take a look at our new plan, and if you have the means and feel inspired, please make a donation to Die Jim Crow Records.

Thank you, love always 💙
